If there’s one thing we’ve said many times before, it’s this: Penton Park, our beautiful Hampshire country home, comes to life when hosting the most special days of people's lives. From the moment you step through the elegant entryway under the striking Corinthian columns, to the time you’re whisked off with dancefloor-sore toes late in the evening, our home will do everything in its power to make you feel warm and welcome and ensure that you’re having the most special day of your life. With a little help from our wonderful team, of course.
When it comes to a wedding, our main emphasis is on making our couples happy and relaxed, confident they’ve made the most perfect choice of venue. But the joy of a truly memorable wedding is one where every single guest feels taken care of. Ensuring the comfort and enjoyment of guests from age zero to eighty plus is one of our key achievements, and something we pride ourselves on. We don’t want any guest to leave Penton Park feeling like they haven’t had the best time.
One of the things that makes Penton Park an ideal country house wedding venue to welcome guests of all ages is the fact that it's still our family home – to three generations, no less.
This gorgeously elegant country house is as much a place of fun and adventure for our three daughters as it is a place of work for me and Guy, and a comfortable, beautiful and well-deserved space to relax for Guy's parents, after they put a heroic amount of work into its renovation. We're immensely proud of the atmosphere the house has, and we'd love to share how adaptable and accessible Penton Park really is for everyone who enters through its doors.
The Sitting Room: The Perfect Chill Out Zone
We know just how tiring a wedding day can be, particularly when you're on your feet all day in a new pair of shoes. When it's time to relax, the Sitting Room is the perfect place. With its deep, sumptuous sofas, it's a haven for your older guests to sit down, rest those weary feet and have a quiet catch up with family and friends.
If it's a little cold outside, we can guarantee there will be a fire crackling merrily in the grate, and and warming tipples to bring through from the bar. I love peeking in during the quieter moments to find a favourite aunt or uncle dozing in a comfy chair, fascinator perched precariously while the younger guests enjoy letting their hair down on the dance floor in the ballroom.
The Grounds: For Young Adventurers
There’s plenty of outdoor space for the kids to run around in as well and keep themselves entertained while the grown-ups have their own conversations and enjoy a drink or two. The lawns on the south side are an ideal space for playing with friends and perhaps even setting up some lawn games. Croquet is our specialty! There are also the glorious meadows for those little ones with explorer’s hearts , and our hammocks always prove particularly popular for a spot of playtime, and a chance to catch a few moments rest.
Penton Park is most definitely not your typical country house wedding venue. It is, above all else, a home – beautifully decorated and kept, but tough enough to withstand the tread of many guests and a bit of cheerful hair-ruffling when the occasion calls for it, because that is ultimately what memories are made of.
It’s our wish that you feel as at home at Penton Park as we all do, whatever age you are! If you’re planning your wedding and would like to come and look around, get in touch! We’d love to give you a tour, hear about your plans over a glass of bubbly and see how we can help.
