21/12/2017 1 Comment A stand out year for Penton ParkIt’s safe to say 2017 will always be a standout year for our family, the year we won best small business in Hampshire at the Venus awards, the year we made best countryside venue in TWIA South and Central region, and also the year we were listed on the Evening Standard top 30 venues to marry at in 2018!!
But, it also marks our first fully booked year of weddings and events, and without hesitation I can say it’s been amazing. In previous years we have wondered how it would be hosting events almost back to back in summer months, but nothing prepared us for the enjoyment of seeing all our couples, with their friends and family having truly the best time of their lives. Whilst the wedding is undoubtedly about the couple who are ‘tying the knot’ it is also a time for you to gather all of your loved ones and celebrate together - and that really can create the most amazing of atmospheres. One of the weekends we had set aside for relaxing family time, Guy and I actually looked at each other on the Saturday evening as we enjoyed a cheeky G&T from our bar (without having to queue behind the scenes!) and remarked that it felt rather empty without a wedding going on. Turns out we rather missed all the fun, laughter and love that fills the house during those special events. We wanted to also take this moment to say a huge thank you to our partners who have helped deliver these amazing events... - Eventus, who provide us with all our Hireware, and always collect super early on a Sunday morning so that we can have the doors open for viewings and collection of the previous days event without having hundreds of dirty plates/glasses lying around! - Our caterers, Vanilla, Little Kitchen Company and Sausage & Pear. With special mention to Smallpiece who quite frankly should have just moved in between July and August they secured so many of our happy couples for their catering needs - you guys were a joy to work with and helped make some outstanding meals! - Live Events Group for rocking the dance floor at almost every event - there was just as much dancing going on behind the bar as on the dance floor! - all the other suppliers such as photographers, florists, videographers, registrars, wedding planners, you all delivered each and every time to the most amazing standard. Plus to all of our amazing and special in house team at Penton, you really are part of the family, and all contribute to welcoming all of our guests to really make them feel like home from home. Without you all on hand we simply couldn’t deliver the amazing events we do!! Wishing everyone a wonderful Christmas and a Happy New Year, and whilst we will be raising a glass to toast 2017 we will be excitedly cheering in 2018 looking forward to even bigger and better things. 15/12/2017 0 Comments It’s ALE-mazing!Almost two years ago now Guy came home from work and informed the world at large that he, along with a friend, was going to open a micro-brewery. Well it looks like they’re about to put that into practice as the original Victorian kitchen in the basement of Penton Park is now formally registered with HMRC as a micro-brewery! The chaps are presently waiting for planning permission to be granted for a change of use to the correct planning zone for the kitchen - then watch out world – the Penton Park Brewery is about to take over the world!!
Many have already tested out their brews and I have to admit it always seems to go down a complete storm, requests are lined up for bottles as soon as they’re ready to be sent out and even some large, rather well known, supermarkets have expressed an interest. There are presently four brews ready to go to market, Colonel Bob, Spanish Shooter, 50 Not Out, and what I suspect will become their signature, The Penton Porter! Anyone keen to be involved on the journey for the Penton Park Brewery, you can follow them on: www.facebook.com/theppb www.instagram.com/pentonparkbrewery 30/11/2017 0 Comments Wow – we won, and then we won again! It’s been an amazing year at Penton Park, not only have we been fully booked, but amazingly we’ve been winning awards!
First up was the Venus Awards which recognises women in business – we were awarded Best Small Business in Hampshire, which was a huge accolade. Secondly and more industry specific was The Wedding Industry Awards (TWIA) for best Countryside Venue in the South and Central Region! This is a huge award to have won and we follow on from some really amazing venues – huge thanks to each and every couple that voted for us in this award. Finally, while we were pretty much hanging out on Cloud Nine thinking wow that’s just the best news, we then found out that we were listed by The Evening Standard, as one of the top 30 Wedding Venues to marry at in the UK in 2018. You can see the full article here https://www.standard.co.uk/lifestyle/london-life/best-wedding-venues-in-the-uk-a3695681.html Not only did they include us they also called us a “truly a hidden gem” that is “perfect for fun couples seeking a stunning Hampshire setting” says it all really! So this month we are taking a bit of time, yes to drink a bit of Champagne to toast all this amazing news, but also to reflect on the journey we have had… several years ago we set ourselves a goal of being one of the best (if not the best) venues in the country. We decided the best way to go about this was to do our very best to try and make sure every couple had a truly special experience, and really felt that they were at an exclusive venue that cared about their big day – no treadmill experience here! Based on all of these awards, along with our superb ratings on Facebook we feel confident we are on the right path – so whilst we take a little bit of time to reflect and toast our success it’s fair to say we are now totally fired up ready for an amazing 2018, 2019 and beyond! 27/10/2017 0 Comments The blog returns! It’s been a few years since we’ve really been on the blogging train, but the time has returned for ramblings to return from Penton Park – specifically triggered by our gorgeous new website on which you are now reading this blog post!
