20/12/2018 0 Comments Christmas At Penton ParkAs a wedding venue owner, we’re probably not supposed to have favourite times of the year. While I truly do believe that Penton Park is a space for all seasons – and we’ve seen stunning weddings this year in the flush of spring, heat of summer and colours of autumn – there’s something a little bit magical about the house at Christmas time. This year, we were lucky enough to have a visit from wonderful photographer Ami Robertson of The Woman and The Wolf, who leant a helping hand as we got Penton Park ready for the festive season. She took a selection of shots that really encapsulate the warmth and twinkle of the place at this time of year, and I’m thrilled to be sharing these with you today. THE TREE With ceilings as high as ours, we need a tree with serious stature. This year’s 9 footer is a real gem, and decorating it is a job for all the family (and a bit of a feat of engineering, sometimes!). I love getting the kids involved, and even Duke – our giant Irish wolfhound – comes to nose around and see what all the fuss is about. THE STAIRCASE Again, I shouldn’t pick favourites I know, but I do so love the sweep of our staircase. It’s perfect for draping with winter foliage and weaving with tiny sparkling lights. When the chandeliers are blazing, the velvet settee nestled by the stairs makes the cosiest and grandest Christmas reading nook you could ask for. THE SITTING ROOM We have fires blazing away in the many hearths at Penton Park during the winter months, but add clusters of candles, and drapings of festive sparkle and you have a recipe for instant Christmas. The Sitting Room is always a cosy space at weddings throughout the year, but it feels like a particular haven for hunkering down and chatting with loved ones at Christmas time. THE BAR OK, so we don’t go all out for decorating the bar, but we do make sure it’s marvellously well stocked. We have an array of artisanal gins, not to mention ales from our own on-site brewery, which make for the perfect festive tipple as the evening draws in. We’re in full-on Christmas countdown mode now, and with three small people in the house, the excitement is palpable. If you’re planning on tying the knot at Christmas time next year and looking for a venue that can offer warmth, twinkle and elegance in spades, then we’d love to talk to you. We still have some spaces available for winter 2019, so get in touch, and let’s start planning your fabulously festive big day.
